Dance Uganda to Honor Navy Mission Members at City Event

An event honoring selected members of HMS Uganda and the visiting Canadian nurse will be held at the Kodiak City Center on Monday night September 2. Director mn Wade announces the affair is part of the citys official hospital program for the Navy mission. It will be ticket only, with Kodiak youths invited to contact Mrs Holmes Johnson or Kew Advance for registration. Transportation led by Charles Madsen, chairman of the reception committee, the Chamber of Commerce.

Local official charged in minor’s death case

Commissioner G W Budf Emil Olsen appeared Monday before the grand jury on a charge of contributing to the death of a minor. The complaint was signed by Anne Sandatrom. Bond was set at $5000 but has not been furnished.

Cubs Depart Arrangements for Transport to State Zoo

City Dock disposal plan moves ahead in Kodiak trip note

Two Brown Bear crewmen convicted of assault in U S Commissioner's court

Joe Hoyt and Guy Spellman were each found guilty of assault and battery, sentenced to 60 days in jail and fined $150 with the fine suspended. Alvin Pickett, skipper of the Wider, testified the men confronted him at the government dock around 1 am, jostled him, and fights ended with two men tossed into the water before bystanders hauled them out.

Waterfowl season opens October 1 and runs to November 14. daily bag limit seven ducks and possession limit two days. Goose limits include two brant plus two snow geese or two blue geese either singly or in aggregate. Bear season opens September 1.

Cordova Galley Fire Damages Boat at Erskine Dock

A fire in the Cordova galley at Erskine's dock was spotted around 3 am Thursday by a night watchman and put out with little damage. A blower motor was ruined and soot circulated, likely starting when the range backfired. The galley crew and about 60 aboard moved to the Polar Bear cafe for breakfast and the galley resumed serving lunch.
