Fire destroys Kadak Fisheries cannery at Pt Bailey
Fire on Monday night completely destroyed the Kadak Fisheries cannery at Pt Bailey valued around one million dollars and called a complete loss by a company spokesman. The blaze left only a mess hall and two barracks standing with fourteen thousand cases of galmon destroyed. About 200 people were at Pt Bailey preparing to depart as a group of 40 Filipino workers had left for Outakie moments before.
