American Baptist missionaries from Alaska Cordova Anchorage Kodiak and Ouzinkie gather for a three day retreat on Woody Island near Kodiak beginning Sunday. Speakers include Dr Clifford G Hansen of the Home Missionary Society New York City and Dr Elmer Adams of Berkeley California. A commissioning service will honor three missionary couples with attendees from Cordova Anchorage and Kodiak.

Death Comes To Mrs C Kraft
Mrs Christie Kraft widow of Otto Kraft and former Kodiak resident died in Minneapolis Minnesota this week at age in her late 80s. She had lived in Seattle since 1940 after moving from Kodiak and was visiting family in Minneapolis in February. Burial and interment will be in Seattle. Otto Kraft founded O Kraft Son in Kodiak.

Mrs Lu cille Ponchene Dies In Sitka
Funeral services were held for 83 year old Lu cille Ponchene who died at the Pioneers Home Sitka. A lifelong Alaskan born in Kodiak in 1878 she was survived by her husband who had died earlier and by a son Alfred of Kodiak and two daughters Mrs Anna Pickens of Boswell Bay and Mrs Agnes Alssas of Seward.
