Fishing season near Kodiak Island closed this week but if Karluk weir escapement remains strong the Karluk area may reopen in September. Fish and Wildlife agent Mark Meyer said the season will reopen on September 10 for the rest of the month. About 500000 cases are expected for the island versus 60000 the prior year amid cannery shifts and worker departures.

Body Of Missing Man Found At Uyak Bay
