A special Tuesday vote of 46 cast 16 to 1 approves donating a 47 by 100 foot section of the south end of City Hall for a federal jail. A deed will be prepared to convey the land for a two story building costing 140000, with construction to begin within six months.

Masons Organize To Seek Local Lodge Charter

Coast Guard May Consider Dock Use at City Dock
At a Chamber of Commerce luncheon May or Lee Bettinger reported possible Coast Guard boats to be stationed at the City Dock. The city offers the south end for two boats and housing plans are being investigated as many crew may relocate with families to Kodiak if the dock is used.

Hotel Robbery at Kodiak Hotel Steals Thirty Dollars
Police report says a thief entered the locked room of Mr. and Mrs. William Wilson at the Kodiak Hotel Monday evening and took six five dollar bills totaling thirty dollars. A cigar box left by Mrs. Wilson remained untouched.

Boats Scheduled for Kodiak and Cordova Departures
Two vessels depart Seattle next week bound for Kodiak and Cordova. The Denils leave August 19 and the Cordova on August 14. Charles Madeen arrived Sunday aboard his new yacht Kodiak Bear II, purchased in Seattle, after a seven day trip with several stopovers, now moored at Mrakine's dock.

The public library at the Kodiak Community Center will open Monday August 19. It will be staffed by volunteers with hours Monday Wednesday and Friday evenings and Wednesday afternoon. Bond Voting Postponed for Revenue Bonds
The Sept 10 election on revenue bonds for a cold storage site and plant is postponed to an indef inite date to allow more information on revenue bond elections. City officials say a majority of registered voters may be required to approve the issue, and many previously registered residents no longer live in the area. A new date will be set later to enable fishermen residents to participate.
Hi Steppers edge All-Stars in final inning thriller
The Hi Steppers rallied for four runs in the last half of the final inning to beat Alice Madden's All-Stars 14 to 12 in a lively Community Center girls softball game. Mary Malutin delivered a two-base hit with the bases loaded to seal the Circus finish as Alice Madsen Joan Terry and Donna Fitegerald homered. Next game is Thursday at 6 30.

Eight Fishermen Arrested Before Commissioner Buendorf
Eight fishermen appeared before Commissioner G W Buendorf and pled not guilty to fish violation charges filed by Marcus Meyer, agent for the Fish and Wildlife Service, demanding jury trials set for Sept. 23. Bail bonds of 1000 dollars each were posted by Frank McConaghy and Ray Martin. The defendants Rosler Patton Anderson Anderson Schuette Wright Johnson Nelson faced charges for illegal fishing during a clo ud period and seine setting with a small boat and brailing with a larger boat. Martin Anderton also faced a separate complaint for using a boat over the 50 foot maximum.
