Boats Go Aground in St Pauls Harbor Channel
Two boats headed toward the channel ran aground after high tide yesterday afternoon in St Pauls Harbor. The Clover aided but could not reach them. High tide was 1 17 this morning and Coast Guard officers expect the vessels Halibut er Stat and BST 3141 to float off themselves.

Clean-Up Drive Starts Week in Kodiak Under City Council Plan
A week long cleanup drive in Kodiak begins Monday led by Ken Wade center director. Volunteers will collect a year’s debris and city trucks will haul it away. Ensign Chariton Airlifted From Polio Case at Base
Ensign Harry N. Chariton, 22, stationed at a Kouish navy base, was in an iron lung and diagnosed with a nerve inflammation. Transferred from Madigan General Hospital to Anchorage after a polio belief, the condition described as non fatal and temporary.

Street Work is Resumed Between Tony's Bar and Town Club
The Patrick Lynch company resumes street work along Alaska Way between Tony's Bar and the Town Club as part of a surface drainage and street paving project begun last fall. A transition manhole and three catch basins will tie to the main culvert from the old commissioner's office to the beach, with two more basins at Kraft's building. After drainage completion the street will be graded, curbs poured, and paving started, aiming for completion by July. several buildings currently encroach on the street and must be moved back, notes Mayor Lee C. City warns of measles as cases rise in Kodiak

Westward Boat Makes First Westward Trip from Seward
