A Monday 4:22 am blaze at Carl Hawkins residence between Martin Jensen and Norman Noble homes on Mill Bay road badly damaged the interior. Hawkins suffered minor burns escaping with only the clothes on his back after the fire started from an oil stove. firefighters battled the stubborn fire for about 40 minutes.

New School Head Named By Board
Harry Holt of Homer was named school superintendent for Kodiak for next year by the local board. Holt, who previously led Kodiak from 1931 to 1934, came from Bend Oregon and saw the first Kodiak high school class graduate during his earlier term. He later served as Seward superintendent and taught last year in Uomer. He is married with two children Edward and Eleanor, is a World War I veteran, and has long participated in community activities.
