Navy Inspection Delivers Off Limits Warning in Kodiak
Navy medical staff inspected all commercial food handlers in Kodiak on Wednesday. Lt. E. L. Walter in charge of the rat eradication program and Ovid McKinley, chief of police, accompanied the party. Belmont Cafe was barred to all military personnel with an off limits sign. The effort follows a city cleanup and rat baiting drive to curb Weiss Disease.

Driver Dale Barton Fined And Suspended In Kodiak Case
Dale Barton was fined 150 dollars and received a 30 day suspended jail sentence along with a six month suspension of his driver license in U.S. Commissioner’s Court last Friday. A 12 man jury found him guilty on two of three charges filed by Frank V. Sheff of Kodiak Naval Station, namely reckless driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident, while he was found not guilty of driving while under the influence. Barton’s attorney was Talmage L. Smith. jurors included Robert Dawson and others.

Reservoir Contract Award Made
The Alaska Public Works office accepted the bid of The Pacific Alaska Contractors Inc of Tacoma Washington for a new reservoir in Kodiak. The joint venture Shupp Chase and Tolbert will perform most work and supply equipment. Bid was 286000 dollars and bond and equipment will be supplied by the contractor.
