Artist Sought By Marshal's Office

A rubber check artist who papered Anchorage last week with 11 payroll checks stolen from Island Construction Company Kodiak Alaska is sought. The 11 checks drawn for $147.38 each bore April 8 and were cashed at bars stores and an Army Navy surplus shop in Anchorage. The writer formerly worked for the company.

Council Approves New Purchase and Budget Moves

The council approved buying a 26999 road grader and related equipment funded by a Bank of Kodiak loan proposal. A two mill tax raise was suggested to amortize the loan, with no action yet taken. A $500 down payment was authorized to Northern Commercial Company while seeking an assessor and new assessment forms.

Base Town Road To Be Improved In Alaska

The Alaska Road Commission will standardize the seven tenths mile Abbert Road strip from the Naval Reservation to Base Town during May. If bids fail, work will proceed by Force Account. Sealed bids due May 7 1952 at the ARC in Juneau. Equipment and extra crew to be deployed.

Stork Arrives Ahead Of Schedule On Donnelley Dock

A son named Robert William was born at 11 05 PM on a gangplank from Donnelley and Ache son dock to a Standard Oil float. Weighing 63 pounds, the baby and Mrs. Rose are at Griffin Memorial Hospital. The Roses from Woody Island have four children, three born en route to the hospital. The birth occurred during a trip from Woody Island to Kodiak aboard a CAA freight and passenger boat.

Burnt Child Flown From Perryville To Kodiak

A five year old Perryville girl was flown to Kodiak for burns suffered in a Perryville grass fire. A radio message from Perryville to Comsar 2 requested Vivian Kosbruk be flown. the Navy PBY completed the 500 mile round trip in six hours.
