The Newcastle Democrat denounces rising Henry county taxes from 1890 to 1904 and warns that despite 95 percent tax growth, population and school needs did not keep pace. It cites higher rates than Shelby and Boone, calls for expert investigations, and alleges public funds were wasted while demand for lower taxes remains unmet.
