Results of the 198 election of Community Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Committeemen in Sullivan County were announced by S Carmack, chair. Ballots were tabulated Sept. 24 at the ASCS office in Blountville. Committeemen will aid the County ASC in programs including the Agricultural Conservation, Cropland Adjustment, Feed Grain, Wheat, and Wool programs, with farm action payments last year totaling $110,313. Names listed by district include Potts, O'Dell, Shipley, Morrell, Lowdermilx, Rutherford, Eggers, Hawks, Earhart, Stickley, Dail, Garland, Ramsey, Riley, Cawood, Hughes, Webb, Cross, Saul, Blalock, Stover, Wagner, Shaver, King, Cole, Blakley, Copas, King, Wexler, Hamilton, and others.

Four Central High Behand students in Sullivan County join Tennessee FFA delegates at the University of Tennessee for the annual Varsity Visit. About 580 Future Homemakers of America delegates from across the state also attend. Activities include an entertainment program Friday night and the Tennessee Memphis State football game Saturday afternoon. Central participants were Charles Herron, Richard Bishop, Terry Lane, and David McMurray, with Paul Creasan, vocational agriculture advisor at the school, accompanying them.

Junior girls in Kingsport will attend a Kingsport Power Company electric workshop in November to learn lamp wiring and lighting for teenage bedrooms. The April Junior Beef Show at Bristol invites entries, with steer weight and grade requirements, including Hereford and Angus stock sales in Johnson City.
