Garber Assault Trial Date Set for October 10
Preliminary hearing for Cleve Garber Highland Park resident charged with felonious assault and attempted murder was reset to October 16 at 2 PM before Magistrate George Bradley. Garber, free on $1000 bond, was arrested on a warrant by Myrtle Davis widow of Grover Davis attacked weeks ago with a brick. Davis was treated at Community Hospital and later moved to the Soldier's Home in Johnson City and has since returned.

One Car Damaged In Minor Mishap
City police records list a single automobile accident yesterday in which one car was damaged to 350 dollars and no injuries occurred. Patrolman Paul Massengill investigated the collision between vehicles driven by Mrs. Arthur Wells and W. Ring Jr. at the West Sullivan and Gate City highway intersection. Mrs. Wells, driving east on Gate City road, and Ring, west on Sullivan, caused the Ring car to suffer 50 dollars in damage. Mrs. Wells was cited for passing a stop light and paid a 3.50 dollar fine in city court.

Corporal Bill Bailey son of Mr and Mrs H C Bailey of the Ford town section re-enlisted today in the U S army air corps for service at Maxwell Field Ala. He graduated Fremont Va high school in 1936 and earlier enlisted in Hawaii. In September 1897 he was promoted to his current rank and attended the Chemical Warfare School for officers and NCOs. After graduation he was a company chemical warfare instructor before discharge in 1938.
