Mystery surrounds grisly farm home shooting near here
Enoch Ingle Lane a 67 year old prominent Sullivan county farmer was shot in his bed at his Scott county home near Bloomingdale road. The weapon a 12 gauge single barrel shotgun was found in the yard. Police say it appears to be murder in cold blood with no robbery motive. The widow Lana Lane described waking to a loud report and finding her husband dead. Bloodhounds were brought in and Coroner’s jury indicated death by close range shotgun wound.

In Washington on Sept 27 two policemen were gravely wounded after a running pistol fight with four burglars in a residential area. Officers Lea W. Buseh and Frank K.
