Kingsport Days began with shoppers from East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia arriving as three days of bargain sales opened. Early trains with reduced passenger rates brought in buyers from Kent, Kentucky to Virginia towns, filling the city with activity as stores opened for the event.
Kingsport jury convicts John Moseley of involuntary manslaughter in the death of a mill worker after a brawl at Borden Mill. The trial spanned most of the day with fourteen witnesses, details unresolved, and a two year penitentiary recommendation pending motion for new trial.
