Kingsport Crew Helps Fight Grocery Firm Fire
Kingsport and Gate City firefighting teams fought a two and a half hour blaze at the Kingsport Grocery Company causing about 85 000 in damage. Twelve Gate City volunteers and five Kingsport firemen were on scene. Three firefighters were injured lightly while battling the flames and were treated by a Gate City doctor. The fire confined to the second story damaged goods and the building, with stock mostly ruined though some items saved. Fraser of Gate City reported insurance covered the stock. headquarters said a heavy water flow and wooden floordrain aided spread.
