Cuban Fishers Stranded Near Port Aransas Texas
Four Cuban shrimp boats blown ashore by Hurricane Fern near Port Aransas are being aided by the U S Coast Guard as Tropical Storm Edith moves northward. The fleet of seven had three grounded vessels with two engines failing and a broken rudder on another. Coast Guard boats and armed guards monitor the site while salvage plans proceed. One crewman with two broken ribs is hospitalized in Corpus Christi. The fleet departed Havana August 28 for a four day trip, normally fishing off Mexico, now stranded 30 to 35 miles north of Port Aransas.

Israel Fires On Jet Over Golan Heights Incident
Israeli gunners fired on a Syrian Soviet MIG over the Golan Heights, the third such overflight since the August 1970 cease-fire.
