Wool Producers Vote Urged For Market Program
H W Conpenhaver, chair of Sullivan County ASC, urges all eligible wool growers to vote in a market development referendum at the County ASCS office Blountville through Sept 23. In person or by mail, voters include those who owned sheep or eight month old lambs for 80 consecutive days since Jan 1. A two thirds approval is needed to extend deductions for promotion and advertising under the National Wool Act and ASPC agreement, with deductions up to 1.0 cent per pound on shorn wool and 2 cents per hundredweight on unshorn lambs.

Dairy Industry Shifts Significantly In Tennessee
University of Tennessee economist Eugene Gambill notes major two year changes in dairy markets. Fewer dairy farms with larger operations, bigger investments, and lower milk output accompany off farm shifts. Off farm effects include decline in domestically manufactured dairy products, jump in imported goods, and higher retail milk prices.
