Three overage destroyers left Boston harbor bound for Canada to join three ships already en route to the British Dominion. The group will form the first contingent of warships traded to Britain and headed toward a Pacific defense posture amid the canal situation.
State patrol says guards at Curm ming prison farm killed two fugitives in a rural gunfight in southeastern Arkansas and recaptured a third felon named Patra Radin Quaratnr Tata Tan. Also reported: three United States destroyers swapped to Great Britain head for a Canadian port, with nine others at Boston navy yard undergoing repairs.
Reports say 46 men escaped from Cum Taine farm after killing a guard. James Scott, 31, and Raymond Harrell, 23, were killed in a battle near a cabin between Winchester and Tillar. B. G. Holtzclaw, 47, a convicted slayer, was recaptured. Eleven still at large. four dead, 21 recaptured. Columbia, Louisiana, relieved after three high school students kidnapped by six convicts, all of whom are now dead or retaken.
