Bridgeport Conn Sept 3 Gov Franklin D Roosevelt urged Democrats to present a united front to enact a new deal and reduce government expenditures. He received pledges of support from Connecticut leaders and called for party unity to defeat Republicans. The dinner at Pleasure Beach pavilion drew 2000 diners and 2000 outside listeners as Roosevelt spoke of loyalty to Alfred E Smith and the forgotten man.
