A Southern Airways Martin 40% plane was detained for over three hours in Chattanooga as authorities searched for a bomb threat found on a seat note. No bomb was located and the flight to Memphis resumed about 7:30 p.m. Police investigated the incident.
The Senate Agriculture Committee approved a four year farm subsidy measure with an amendment opposing diversions to Communist nations and seeking restrictions on grain shipments. The bill targets wheat cotton feed and cropland with a sense of Congress resolution urging action and a 1203 vote paving way for a floor passage.
