In Geneva thirty eight nations discussed the 11th reservation to America’s court adhesion as Van Eysinga led the opening. In Illinois at Scott Field near Belleville, Lt. W A Gray piloted the army blimp TC 5 to a safe dawn landing after a stormy night, marking the first inland flight since the Shenandoah disaster.
Disregard of signals by the crew of an east bound freight locomotive caused a wreck on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad last night near Foley Pennsylvania. Three trainmen were killed and several injured as the freight struck Passenger Train No. 7 the New York and Chicago express which had been waiting on a siding to clear the main track. The collision wrecked two engines and toppled two cars of baggage and express matter. Engineer Collins of Cumberland was mentioned.
Monroe Michigan September 3 1923 William Owen of Toledo veteran motorman to be questioned by Detroit Union Railway Company officials over whether he failed to wait for the southbound car at Pine siding in a collision that killed eight people and injured over 25 The victims include Elizabeth Burns Blisfield Michigan and other residents from Michigan Ontario and Detroit The crash occurred on a curve at about 40 miles an hour and both cars telescoped before emergency crews arrived
Ben Rudner Massillon hardware merchant Louis Mazer Canton pool hall operator Pat McDermott Nanty Glo and Cleveland now sought nationwide were indicted by the Stark County grand jury for first degree murder of Canton publisher Don R. Mellett on July 16. Rudner arrested in Massillon, taken to Canton as grand jury report awaited. Mazer charged by warrant Aug 16, held in Cuyahoga County jail on conspiracy to violate Prohibition. McDermott at large, named as key man, sought nationwide since July 30.
Mexico City reports the government enforces its religious regulations with no quick resolution in sight. The Catholic Episcopate is finalizing a petition for Congress seeking relief, with delivery to Congress anticipated soon though details on timing remain unsettled.
At Yohona Oklahoma September 3 twelve miners were trapped in the Superior Smokeless Coal Company mine after a gas explosion as they began work this morning. Several men were injured though none seriously. Rescue crews hoped the entombed men would be reached soon.
Cloudy with possible showers tonight and Saturday in Virginia, temperatures steady with moderate to fresh northeast and east winds. Tennessee outlook partly cloudy tonight and Saturday with probable local thunderstorms in the east and north, temperatures little changed.

Warren director of Saint Josephs Academy a Catholic institution for negros Advices from Norfolk said friends of the priest would seek state help to identify two masked robed men who allegedly took Walter Warren and questioned him about the academy County authorities stated they did not plan an inquiry.
Kentucky resident Kelly Kirtley, 70, wealthy restaurateur, shot and killed Miss Mildred McDaniel, 26, a Brooklyn telephone operator staying with him at a Lexington hotel. Alma Gregory, also from Brooklyn, escaped unharmed after witnessing the shooting then Kirtley killed himself in the bathroom adjoining their room. The trio had checked in as relatives of Alma and Mildred, who arrived Wednesday. the two women reportedly argued over a ring's diamond size. The incident occurred shortly before 7 am and is being investigated. details continued on page five.
Berlin reports S Parker Gilbert signed a pact with Germany's finance minister Reinhold approved by the reparations commission. It binds Germany to a lump sum of 300 million gold marks plus 260 million marks due in 1928 and 1929, under the third Dawes plan year ending August 31, 1927, with contingent supplemental payments up to 250 million marks based on revenue.
In Gary Indiana two youths inspired by cheap liquor robbed three places in minutes killing a clerk and wounding a patrolman before a running gun battle ended with one suspect dead and the other captured. The slain gunman was identified as Harry Bolas of Youngstown Ohio. Rudolph Gustamary of Atlanta Minnesota was said to be his companion.
The six men and one woman linked to the Union Pacific mail train robbery near Rock Springs Wyoming in August face federal grand jury action in Cheyenne late October. John Madigan Cheyenne clerk confessed and implicated Jack Kearns William Bradford Ted Theodore and Mickey Sourlis with planning the heist. Loot was scattered near the track and later moved by Bradford amid internal strife.
