Geneva May 80 AP Germany told the League of Nations Council to keep its hands off the question of Germanys treatment of the Jews. Germany refused to accept a council report on the treatment of Jews in upper Silesia and denied a German Jew resident there was out of Silesian opinion. The council decided to study Bernheins position, noting the issue involves German law and the protection of life and liberty for inhabitants. Continued on page six.

One bandit shot during escape. loot near $16,000 recovered. some money and a machine gun found near the creek. Davis captured. others jailed in Plymouth and South Bend facing kidnapping and robbery charges.
Washington May 20 The banking committee decides to ask Ferdinand Pecora to submit an explanatory report on the evidence he plans to present in the Morgan & Company inquiry resuming tomorrow. The move, taken at the request of Senator Glass, aims to clarify the line of inquiry without limiting Pecora's methods.
Washington May 30 Opposed provisions in the Roosevelt industrial control bill prompt an emergency meeting of the National Association of Manufacturers next Saturday. President Robert L. Lund says about 1 000 will be invited by wire to voice concern that licensing mandates would hinder industrial recovery. Lumber interests report a separate code of fair competition exists for submission to the president.
Kenneth McLean, 38, and his 21 year old son William were brought to Canadas Vegreville court after capture in the United States. They face murder charges in the September 1932 killing of Walter Parsillo in Manville district. Five hundred dollars secured. Thirty five witnesses will be called.
Washington May 30 Farm prices are rising at the fastest pace since the end of the world war. From April 15 to mid-May the average price for horses rose from 67 to 71 dollars and mules from 73 to 77 dollars. Wool led gains jumping 75 percent. Prices for consumption goods reached prewar levels but farm prices remain below those levels. The rise is blamed on inflation expectations brisk business and poor crop prospects for winter wheat and corn. Secretary Wallace aims to restore farm prices to prewar relations to goods.
Memorial Day crowds in Washington honor Arlington memorial ceremonies with President Roosevelt expected to attend while全国 parades mark the fading Civil War veteran presence. In New York about 49,000 veterans were registered for parades, but only 85 wore Civil War uniforms.
Paris May 30 The graves of 28 500 American war dead in France were decorated today in five military cemeteries with veterans ceremonies at 11 and flags raised at noon. At Suresnes 1 641 soldiers lie under white crosses as Theodore Marrine American chargé d affaires presided. Gold star mothers and widows visited graves while church services opened observances at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and St Joseph's. wreaths were laid at the tomb of the unknowns near the Arc de Triomphe. officials, veterans, schoolchildren and patriotic groups attended. Forty seven aviators who served with the French were honored at La Fayette Escadrille Memorial. Memorial events recalled 1914 threats to Paris and ceremonies included American Legion color guards and French troops. Edward Mandell Stone, of Chicago and New Bedford, honored. former Governor John Fisher recalled the Battle of Gettysburg. Wounded veteran Stone, who died Feb 27 1915, lies buried at Romilly Sur Seine.
Memorial Day crowds at the Chicago World's Fair visit Lincoln exhibits in the Illinois host building and sacrosanct recreations of the Birthplace cabin and New Salem sites. A special program features General James Luckie Br commander of the Georgia division of United Confederate Veterans and William Henry Harrison Price at the Battle of Gettysburg cyclorama. The court of the Hall of Science hosts a band concert and cobra topping. soldiers parade at Saldier Field ends with a Cantigny battle reenactment.
Washington May 30 President Roosevelt led the nation in paying tribute to war dead arranging Memorial Day services at Arlington National Cemetery under the Grand Army of the Republic. Secretaries Dern and Swanson addressed the ceremony marking the navy airmen lost with the Akron disaster and a further continuation on page six.
Washington May 30 AP Senator Couzens of Michigan has accepted appointment by President Roosevelt as a member of the American delegation to the London economic conference. He is the first Republican named. other members named include Hull GOP Gox Pittman and McReynolds. The delegation sails tomorrow from New York.
Kansas City police intensified efforts as Mary McElroy's captors fled with 30000 in ransom, while investigators questioned 25 year old Ef F McElroy's daughter and reviewed photographs for clues. Authorities from Jackson and Wyandotte counties aided, with federal help, as searches for a house in the metro area continued.
Indianapolis May 40 1928. Babe Stang of Los Angeles led 800 mile race early with a record pace as 42 cars started. Crashes and mechanical failures sidelined ten cars by halfway including Billman who suffered arm injuries and Frame who escaped injury. Louie Meyer led after Stapp slowed, with Stapp still leading at pace before incidents shifted positions. Continued on page six.
