The city school string ensemble, made up of fifth and sixth graders from four elementary schools, will present a program in the Dobyns-Bennett Cafeteria on Thursday May 31 at 7:30 p.m. The students aim to showcase developing talents through a concert setting.

Washington report says Roy X K Moore, head of the Jackson Mississippi field office, is considered a leading candidate to replace FBI No 2 W Mark Felt as director. A presidential fleet helicopter carrying Secret Service agents plunged into the Atlantic near Grand Cay, killing agent J Clifford Dietrich of Woodbridge, Virginia, and injuring nine others. Firefighters Est 50 crews worked as two B 26 bombers and a patrol plane sprayed chemicals while developers dredged canals lowering swamp moisture. The eastern sector near 50 miles west of Miami and nine miles north of Monroe Station remained out of control with no rain forecast.
