The theft was witnessed as guards cried for help at dawn and the liquor belonged to Ernest Diehl of Cincinnati.

Louisville May 27 Dr. Clifford Goodman a 30 year old physician was arrested on a federal warrant for negotiating with stolen securities. David T. Nichols a distillery superintendent at Eminence Ky was arrested on the same charge. Securities totaling part of 20000 stolen from Versailles post office Feb 21 allegedly passed for a whisky deal. Goodman admitted accepting 13000 in securities as commission but claimed he did not know they were stolen. Nichols oversees three distilleries from which 4000 cases of whisky were removed under alleged forged permits.
