Roy Thompson of Rye Cave is in Wise county jail awaiting Campbell county Tenn officers to identify him in a May 5 slaying. He was arrested yesterday at Benedict mines in Lee county on a fugitive warrant by U S Marshal Lee Skeens and Deputy Sheriff Carrier of Wise. Thompson denied knowledge of the Tennessee murder and said he never left the St Charles coal fields.
Knoxville May 26. A program to speed justice and cut court costs will be submitted to the state bar association at its Chattanooga convention June 23. W.M. Wieler UT law professor said proposals include a bill to let the supreme court set general rules of pleading and procedure, plus a permanent rules committee and court unification study. Wicker chairs the committee with members Waller P. Armstrong of Memphis and Charles S. Coltey of Chattanooga.

Nashville May 26 four men were appointed to the state Conservation commission created by a new law to guide natural resources policy. Appointees are Dr George R Mayfield Nashville S M Nickey Jr Memphis Joe Summers Johnson City and Lythie Brown Franklin. The governor is the fifth member and the law charges the panel with state natural resources oversight and department support subject to the governor's approval.
The campaign for the sitizens ticket led by Cox Walker and Loswood will be aired on WIHL radio in Johnson City at 1 p.m. tomorrow. Otis Huddle of Kingsport will speak for the ticket. Other candidates have not announced platforms and have made no campaign moves. With a week to go, a whirlwind campaign is expected by at least one side, probably both.
Organizers pressed early poll tax collection to qualify voters for the liquor repeal referendum and the city election this fall. Crump has long advocated repeal. Nashville Tax Commissioner McCanless projected liquor sales to begin around June 15 once regulations are in place.
