Kingsport hosts a seven day Redpath Chautauqua opening with the Macfarren Symphony Quartet led by Herbert Macfarren of London. A large crowd praised the piano numbers and Raymond Simonds will oversee the event. Tonight Charles H. Plattenburg will lecture on The Old Town In a New World after a prelude by the Macfarren Quartet. Elsie Baker and other entertainers are slated for further appearances.

Oklahoma Colored School Closes Session in Auditorium
The closing exercises at the Oklahoma colored school in Central High School auditorium were a success with songs recitations dialogues and addresses by J L Shoun Mrs S N Haws and W B Smith colored. Pupils’ work was exhibited nightly and the year billed as among the school’s most successful. The Tuesday program featured songs recitations and the class play Belinda Jane and Jonathan From Punkin Ridge with J Fred Johnson delivering a short address.
