Childs efforts to rouse hen trigger big fire

May 24 New York Argentine sportsman Bernardo Duggan and two companions begin a daylight flight from Miller Field on Staten Island at 7 04 am EST for Charleston on the first leg of a 6100 mile night to Buenos Aires. Stops planned include Charleston Hampton Roads Miami Havana Guantanamo Cape Haitian Haiti Trinidad Paramaribo Para Bahia Victoria Martinique Rio de Janeiro Porto Alegre and Buenos Aires. The crew includes Captain Eduardo Olivero and Ernesto Campanelli. The aircraft Buenos Aires was built in Italy for Duggan with 2500 gallons of fuel for about 700 miles and nine hours endurance. Complete Check Of Damage To Johnson City Plant
Johnson City Tenn May 24 A complete check up yesterday on officials of the Johnson City Shale Brick corporation reveals little if any difference in the amount of the loss suffered by fire at the big plant here Saturday night and Sunday morning. The machinery of the plant is a total loss and Edwin Hunter the manager announced that representatives of the machinery company would arrive here Tuesday and that orders would be placed for immediate delivery of all needed new machinery. The total loss suffered by the company will run to 150000 and may reach 200000. The company has sufficient insurance to cover the loss. Men Out of Work The company employs a large number of men and many of them will be thrown out of work. Others in the company's employ will be given employment cleaning up the debris preparatory to the installation of the new machinery. The continuous kiln which burns a million brick was not damaged by the flames. The company has orders on its books for five million brick or 2000 feet of heavy firemen incombitting the Siamtes
