Registrars Busy At City Hall For Two Day Registration
Supplemental registration began at city hall today at 9 a.m. for two days as crowds gathered and 500 had registered by noon. The city board of elections noted high turnout and added registrars to handle the influx. Registration is open to residents of all three wards inside the Center street entrance. The June 3 city election will be held at the same location. About 2,500 poll taxes are expected. however many eligible voters, especially those under 21 or over 50, may not pay poll tax due to charter rules. It is estimated at least one third more voters will be eligible beyond those who paid the 1938 poll tax. All voters must be properly registered.
