Gene Hart of Bluff City Route 1 has been named one of three State Star Farmers for 1971 by the Tennessee Association of Future Farmers of America. Corn Price Advances In April Farm Index
The Tennessee Crop Reporting Service reports April 14 price indices with farm product overall at 109 percent of the 1907 base, unchanged from mid March and 1 point below last year. Hog prices drop to 16 per hundredweight, soybeans at 2.83 per bushel up 34 cents year over year, corn at 1.63 up 26 cents and wheat up 14 cents. National index of prices received falls 1 point to 111 percent of the 1967 average, while prices paid by farmers sit at 119, up 1 percent from March and 4 percent above April 1970.
