Police hold 35 year old Lloyd Boyer in Wichita Kansas on murder charges for killing war veteran Victor Paddock in Eureka five years ago. Paddock's body allegedly was cut into pieces and buried on the outskirts of Elyeka. A woman friend of the accused is said to have provided information leading to the arrest.
Washington May 3 The United States Chamber of Commerce featured Hugh S Johnson in a musical aside as speakers debated the National Recovery Act during a recovery program. Malcolm Muir urged restraint while criticizing the act and warning against disruptive reform mediares. Strawn urged older methods over a new governmental machine, saying the country should not be raised as an patronage system. (Continued on page six)

Detroit May 3 AP Motors Corporation executives and General Conference saw union leaders return home to continue labor talks for eight Fisher Body units. Dr Leo Wolman reported satisfactory progress and said negotiations will resume in Steubenville Janesville WIs Flint Michigan and other cities as technical questions are settled. Groundwork for a settlement was laid sources said.
MEMPINS Tenn May 3 The Southern Regional Agricultural and Vocational Conference debated the sex problem and whether to recommend admitting girls to the Future Farmers of America. The topic was argued pro and con. Miss Sue Powers Shelby County school superintendent suggested home economics courses be made suitable for boys as well. Husbands should know the responsibilities of their wives in feeding clothing the family and making the home attractive, she said.
A Senate investigation report accuses Guardian Trust Co of Cleveland of unsound practices and mismanagement. It alleges window dressing through repurchase agreements, listing of checks, and large deposits from friendly depositors to hide true conditions. J Arthur House and H A Robinson allegedly diverted retirement funds, receiving large salaries and bonuses while directors paid end-of-year lump sums to officers.
The Justice Department asked Congress for 2 million dollars to buy guns hire more agents and pay for faster cars to combat organized crime. An arming of federal Dillinger hunters occurred with machine guns seized from mobsters. Armored cars and army air support were discussed as part of broader anticrime plans.
In Tucson on May 3 a six year old girl June Robles remains missing eight days after kidnapping amid ransom talks. The family is ready to pay a 50000 ransom with denominations of 5 10 and 20 dollars. Paris May 3 France plans to lengthen military service as a response to the growing threat from Germany. In Chapel Hills Tennessee May 3 former Governor Henry J Horton was reported improved but confined to a wheelchair after a stroke in March. Mrs Horton said he is critically ill but gradually strengthening and can move around with a cane, reading daily newspapers and history while he waits for full recovery.
Luke Lea and his son plan to appear before the Tennessee Supreme Court next Wednesday after the U S Supreme Court denied them review of habeas corpus in their Tennessee banking law case. Former Governor Albert H Roberts and Henry E Gelton said the Leas will answer any orders and likely face custody by Buncombe County deputies per Governor Hill McAlister’s extradition warrant.
