Wheatley Apartments breaks ground in Riverview complex
Ground was broken today on an eight unit building in Riverview as the first phase of a 42 unit Wheatley Apartments project. Kingsport Community Improvement Association formed last fall plans a broader 32 additional units. Units will be rental only for employees of member firms with prices starting around 110 dollars monthly. Located on a square block bounded by Wheatley Dunbar and Louis Streets, the project received a quarter block donation from Eastman. The association includes firms such as American St Gobain, First National Bank of Sullivan County, Kingsport Power, Kingsport Press, and Tennessee Eastman among others.

Americans Killed In Himalayas On Mt Dhaulagiri Expedition
Two American climbers and their local guides died while attempting the 26973 foot peak Mt Dhaulagiri in Nepal. Expedition leader Boyd Everett Jr and John Moeman were among the dead. Four survivors were located two days from aircraft landing.
