Severe downpours surged through the Deep South triggering floods that inundated lowlands across multiple states. National Guards and Red Cross sheltered hundreds, while rivers rose to historic levels in Alabama, Tennessee, and Louisiana. Widespread road closures and disrupted services accompanied the storm, with towns like Gatlinburg and Townsend reporting flash floods and damaged infrastructure.
About 614 East Tennessee high school students gathered for a weekend music festival directed by Travis Shelton of Sylacauga Alabama. The event began Friday with chorus registrations at Robyns Bennett and featured the Robyns Bennett Concert Band. A Saturday night public concert with a small admission was set for Debyns Bennett High School Sprankle Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m. The festival divides choruses into three classes by enrollment and presents varied classical and arranged works performed by combined choruses with accompanying band.
A 60 year old man sustained severe burns after contacting a 900 volt line on Gravelly Route. He was taken to Holstory Valley Continuity Hospital for treatment. Bryan of the USMule company said workers were replacing single phase lines to power a water pump when the accident occurred Thursday evening. An investigation was ordered and had not yet begun.
A family home fire in South Klingston killed six children and left others injured or missing. Firefighters recovered the two-room dwelling after the blaze. Cora Young, a worker for the victims, was hospitalized with burns. Leonard Young, reported missing then found, was with another man nearby Kingston.
In Nashville, Tennessee a five year old girl Joyse Lee Shoemaker died after skin from her father Edward F. Shoemaker was grafted to her back following a burn from an open heater. The tragedy occurred hours after the injury in Middle Tennessee as the family rushed to treatment.

Autopsy on 67 year old Geor Hensley disclosed a head injury and tobar pneumonia after a truck struck him from behind Tuesday night. He died Thursday at home of Jobin Nunnally Bloomingdale. He was hospitalized at Holston Valley Community Hospital in shock after the wreck.
