First Aid Classes Formed and Planned in Kingsport Area
Twenty three Red Cross first aid classes are now held in Kingsport and nearby areas with twelve more to be added soon. Carter Crumble reported at the Instructors' Club meeting at the Civic Auditorium that classes enroll 20 to 34 students. A plan to coordinate with the medical division of local civilian defense includes forming emergency squads and central first aid station. About 75 people attended. Colored citizens’ defense classes will run nightly at Douglass School through the week from 7 to 9 pm, with the first aid class starting March 31 at 7 pm. An old age pensioner in Nevada, Missouri, requested a reduction from his grant, and the board granted his request.
