Winston-Salem police report two men robbed a Saturday night bridge gathering at Mrs. A H Galloway’s home locking four women in a bathroom and fleeing with jewels valued at 15000. The robbers, described as tall and slender, wore women’s coats and used a sawed off shotgun and pistol. They escaped in Mrs. Margaret Cavanaugh’s car, which was abandoned a half mile away.

G B Farris aged 64 night watchman in a Nashville arcade died from pistol wounds after a dispute with Henry W Spicer 52 a real estate dealer in Spicers downtown office. Spicer in serious condition shot through chest. George Elam 24 Farris grandson held on assault with intent to murder and carrying a pistol. Elam says he found grandfather’s gun after the shooting and told Spicer to come along. Mrs Spicer and a Miss Louise Perry were with Spicer. Elam claims Spicer and the two women grappled with him before the shooting.
