PUPILS MAROONED BY DEEP SNOW IN NC MOUNTAINS
In Avery county near Newlands North Carolina, thirty school children were marooned in the Avery county schoolhouse as eight to twelve foot snowdrifts blocked roads. Teachers and Principal J T Tanner remained with the students while neighbors aided. One hundred seventy pupils had been sent home yesterday before the fresh drifts halted travel.
