Unopposed in District M Representative John Flannagan secured the Democratic nomination at a Bristol Virginia convention attended by over a thousand delegates. The party’s strength in the district is seen as nearly guaranteeing victory in November with more than 40,000 votes in the district controlled by the party.
A convention at the Virginia High School adopted a resolution urging Thief Blood Byrd to serve as guardian for U S. Seaton. Senator Byrd, detained in Washington on official business, was invited to attend. Other resolutions praised Senator Carter Glass and Governor George C. Peery as the meeting reconvened.
The three nations signed consultative agreements to coordinate on political and commercial matters. They pledge to consult each other before taking actions affecting any signatory, and invite broader European collaboration for peace and trade.

Viennese dancer Rita Georg was summoned to a Paris court with her lawyer M. Bienex to answer questions tied to the Stavisky affair. Police sought her testimony on alleged payments for information from patrons at Stavisky’s night club network. she was later told to return to her home city.
Paris reports a suicide attempt by Emile Blanchard, an agriculture official tied to the Stavisky scandal. Police say he tried to kill himself after being charged with swindling related to Serge Stavisky, the late pawnshop founder, amid deadly street riots and political upheaval.

Samuel Insull sailed from Piraeus aboard the Greek freighter Maiotis at 12:25 p m seeking a fresh refuge from American authorities. The 74 year old fugitive hoped to reach Djibouti or Abyssinia but lacked a French visa raising doubts about landing there.
U S Senator Nathan J Bachman issued a flat denial of charges that he colluded with former Insurance Commissioner I J Reece to divert tax money into a campaign fund. Reece testified to a meeting at his Chattanooga home in late September or early October 1982 attended by his law partner J J Lynch and a congressman.
Lima Ohio March 17 two Dil inger gang members Harry Pierpont and Charles Makley sentenced to die by electric chair after two juries found them guilty of murdering Sheriff Joss Larber during the Dillinger gang jail escape. Sentencing delayed until after another Dillinger ally, Sleepy Russell Clark, faces trial. General Harold M Bush warns Dillinger may attempt another escape route. Makley accepts verdict with little emotion while his sisters react sobbing.
