Sixteenth Mob Member Sentenced in Georgia Lynching
Douglas Georgia March 17. An Iowa mob that abducted Dave Wright from the county jail last August tied him to a tree and shot him as a cigarette glow faded. Wright, a white man, was the only lynching in Georgia in 1926. Four men were sentenced the previous day, with lengths from one to twenty years and two life terms among 12 convictions. Seventeen indicted, last suspect Mark Tanner not yet arrested. Governor Walker cited convictions in a statement on violence in three Georgia counties.

Elbert Hayes 18, charged with killing Bill Blevins at the latter's Hickory Tree home March 10, was bound over to circuit court on 2500 bond after a preliminary hearing before Squire J. H. Swann.
