An Army Air Corps P-24 transport crashed in a plowed field nine miles from Greenville Alabama killing Lieut Cralisle W Phillips of Scott Field. The motor failed at 2000 feet as it neared Maxwell Field from Valparaiso. Phillips parachute snagged on the tail as he tried to follow nine passengers from Scott Field all from the 15th Observation Squadron. Passengers listed include Sgt C Bell Mark Reynolds Bennie Harrison A C Boucher George Sparling Lloyd Parmentier and Ben Maxam. Capt Ray Owen of Maxwell Field sent a plane to scene to investigate. Michael J Roach of Memphis died nine hours earlier. James Roach 74 died in Elizabeth New Jersey and their brother John Roach survives.
