LOS ANGELES March 13 AP More than 100 persons were swept to their deaths when the St Francis dam burst sending a 75 foot high wall of water through San Francisquito Canyon. Officials fear the toll may reach 400 as rescue teams recover bodies along Santa Paula and Santa Clara rivers. Unidentified bodies and ongoing searches filled today’s grim progress as the disaster expands into a major water supply catastrophe.
