Teachers Union Plans Negro Freedom School
The American Federation of Teachers announces summer freedom schools for Negro youths to learn democratic processes. Arthur Reese of Detroit says 150 certified instructors are sought to teach in southern and northern cities including Newark, Cleveland, and Chicago. Teachers will be paid $10 weekly plus travel, housed in Negro homes, and the program aims to create more knowledgeable citizens within the civil rights movement context.

Eaton described by Imperial Wizard Robert Shelton as a protest against federal harassment. The Eaton death followed an apparent heart attack at Doctor's Hospital and will be honored with full Klan rites.
