Tennessee seeks monuments in Capitol building
Nashville March 4. John Trotwood Moore state librarian asked the sub committee for an appropriation of 10000 to 20000 to erect monuments to famous Tennesseans in the Old Capitol building to preserve memory of Tennessee figures. He named Andrew Jackson and other heroes and governors. The committee voted 10000 for gathering historical manuscripts and documents. Other officials testified on conservation and department salaries. The penal institutions committee visited Brishy Mountain prison at Petros. Continued on page three.

Triple Slayer Denied Bail in Tennessee Slayings
W B Johnson of Jefferson City was refused bail after a preliminary hearing at Dandridge and returned to Knox Security jail. His defense plans habeas corpus review next week. Witnesses described Johnson shooting Mrs Nip Howard and her daughter Jess ie Bishop, then firing into a crowd and killing Dibrell Hicks, Carson-Newman senior president. A $15,000 bond was allowed for the Hicks killing.

Four Babies Die After Boric Acid Mixup
In Chicago on March 4 two girl babies remained in critical condition as authorities investigated the deaths of seven infants from a mistaken still water substitute. Four bodies were exhumed and Coroner Oscar Wolff, leading a businessmen jury, said the inquiry had just begun.
