Moose Lodge approves three-pool gymnatorium complex plan

Kingsport Moose Lodge No. 972 approves a 168 by 100 foot complex costing 160000 to house three pools a gymnasium and workout rooms. Budget proposes University Center funds in two construction programs

Governor Buford Ellington’s budget to the legislature includes money for Kingasport’s University Center in two construction programs. East Tennessee State University would get 4,063,000 for construction and the University of Tennessee 13.5 million. Both schools favor spending 0.5 million on the campus on 100 acres donated by Harvey Brooks in Hawkins County within Kingsport city limits. The site’s future hinges on legislative approval. Ellington seeks 1100 more beds for mentally retarded

Governor Buford Ellington proposes a 56.8 million three-year budget to add over 1,100 beds in state facilities for the mentally retarded. The plan allocates 700 beds at West Tennessee Hospital and School in Arlington, 344 at Greene Valley in Greensville, and 60 at Clover Bolton in Nashville, plus two youth treatment centers in Chattanooga and Memphis with 74 beds, and 700,000 for community health centers.
