Passenger Ship Strikes Mine Sinks 150 Feared Dead
A Danish passenger vessel the Kjeebenhavn struck a mine off Aalborg in the Kattegat sank in about ten minutes. Of 406 aboard 150 are feared drowned and about 250 were rescued. The ship traveled from Copenhagen to Aalborg when hit. Relatives gathered as ships including the Frigga aided survivors and lifebelts were dropped to swimmers.

The City Zoning Board of Appeals granted J E Nelms of Baylor Nelms Furniture Company permission Thursday night to construct a 50 by 100 foot storage building on two Clay Street lots. A Mount Zion Tabernacle church of 30 by 60 feet was approved for corner Washington and Dunbar Streets in Riverview Addition, in a residential zone. A West Sullivan Street residence facing a narrow lot was denied for lack of street width compliance, and John Turner’s request to add two rooms to a Walnut Street home was rejected.
