Four States Nab Slayer Sheriff Suspect in Texarkana
TEXARKANA Ark July 30 AP officers in Arkansas Texas and Oklahoma widened hunt for Sam Day 20 sought in the slaying of Sheriff Walter Harris during a raid on a still near Texarkana. Herbert Day 30 brother of Sam was arrested. Officers blamed a race based ruse for the escape. Joe Watson 18 said a man named Bob Taylor was at the still and other negroes gave the same information. Sam Day and his brother were charged with murder. Herbert and his father 54 fled county but Herbert was captured at their home.
