A man giving the name Earl Stewart was detained on a trespassing charge after arriving in Kingsport by Clinchfield train. Safety Director Eisenbise said officers will verify his story and a railroad detective reported a wardrobe match with North Carolina prison clothes. The incident led to a court fine of 20 dollars.

Meteorite ends saucer hype in London crater
In London a tennis-ball sized meteorite found beneath a Charlton crater ends two weeks of flying saucer speculation. Army bomb disposal experts retrieved the object from Roy Blanchard's potato and barley field and will turn it over to scientists. Major H. P. Mailcarrier Named In Will Opens Longstanding Case
In a Kingsport chancery court ruling Judge Phillips upheld a will provision granting funds to a mailcarrier family friend. Goins, a 32 year old postman, received the residuary trust after aiding Mrs Walker and visiting her gravesite. He plans to use the money for a new home for his wife and two teenage sons.
