Captain William Rule Dies After Appendicitis Operation
Knoxville Teon July 27 AP Captain William Rule founder and editor of the Knoxville Journal died after an operation for appendicitis. He was 59 and had planned vacation time but kept daily office routine. A Civil War veteran, Rule began newspaper work at 24 and founded the Knoxville Journal in 1855. He lived to celebrate his 89th birthday last May and died at 9:30 this morning. He is survived by his wife, a son William Rule Jr, and a daughter Lilian.
