Roanoke July 25 forty agents and local police led by R Q Merrick blitzed Roanoke at 1 30 pm raiding forty places. Within two hours more than 100 persons were arrested for violations of the Volstead act. Many remained jailed or held for bond as the dragnet continued into the evening with bonds ranging from 500 to 3000. More arrests planned as records were reviewed.
