Women Serving Time At YWCA in New Haven
Eight women convicted on varying charges including manslaughter are serving their sentences in the downtown YWCA under a gender community supervision plan. Connecticut officials call it the first such program in the nation as the state phases out jail for women and shifts to private group homes. The inmates were moved from Niantic State Prison Farm for Women and are not on a pre-release program, remaining under actual sentence in the community.

Beaten worker robs crowd after payout in Queens
