Environmental satellite ERTS to orbit Earth from California
The ERTS satellite, a 1985 pound butterfly shaped craft, will launch from Lompac California to provide data on land use pollution snow cover and weather. It will photograph 13 000 square miles per image and return data to monitor Earth's environment for a year with 14 daily orbits.
