Federal funds cover half flood repair costs in six Tennessee counties
Gainesboro Mayor Cilvin Roark said federal funds will pay 50 percent of flood damage costs to roads and bridges in six Middle Tennessee counties. Officials discussed aid with William Hollaway, regional director for emergency preparedness, as President Nixon declared the area a disaster and approved $200 for emergency public facilities. Attendees included Med Boiling Springs Mayor Willis Knight and county officials from Clay, Cumberland, Jackson, Macon, Overton, and Sumner. SBA loan applications are being accepted for destroyed or damaged property. Federal Home Loan Bank approved socialized credit measures for member savings and loan associations in the counties.
